NECC has worked with Think Physics North East to create a series of videos showcasing women in our region working in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

The films show four case studies of women working in these roles – from Accenture apprentice Ellie Gangel, to North East-born Ann Cairns, who is President, International Markets at MasterCard.

They also feature Northumbrian Water Technical Adviser Laura Wilkinson, and Jacqui Miller, Director at Miller UK.

The final film showcases the range of opportunities being created by Hitachi Rail at Newton Aycliffe, illustrating the continuing importance of STEM skills to the North East economy.

Our films have been developed as part of a pilot project to encourage girls into STEM that we have undertaken with the Government Equalities Office. They will provide a valuable resource for schools, parents and careers advisers across the North East.
